Hard disks - Backing Up

As a user of a 20meg hard drive, since I first got hold
of an Archie, I have already gone through all the
different stages associated with it. Experienced hard disk
users will know exactly what I'm talking about, but if
you've just bought a hard drive, then read on.
When you first fit your new hard disk to your computer,
you suddenly discover the extra speed of loading and
finding the programs you most regularly use, and your disk
(unless it is over 40 megs) will fill up with software
very quickly. At first you are told by other users to
carefully back everything up, and some novices may do this
at first. But as with many processes that are meant to be
performed on your computer, most people will soon not
bother to back anything up at all.
The months of use pass by, and all those useful PD
programs that you downloaded or copied, are gradually
accumulated on your drive, and you laugh at those other
people who waste their evenings backing things up - for no
apparent reason.
